Just so you know that pig head wasn’t wasted for a photo op. It was simmered, de-boned and used to make a lovely dish of croquettes.

Food: The Big & The Small Of It

Food is a cultural unifier. At the table is where the stomach and the mind meet.

I'm currently working on a book about Acadian culinary heritage and history for Nimbus Publishing

I am most proud of one recent achievement: I was asked to be a judge for the prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards. Find out more about the Beard Awards here.

I recently started writing for Vice's gastronomically-focused site, Munchies. You can find my work here.

I've written for The Globe & Mail, Canada's biggest national newspaper, on everything from the creators of interesting food products to that über-Haligonian snack, the donair.

I've also produced a series of culinary radio vignettes  for Information Morning, CBC Nova Scotia’s morning current affairs show. The series is called  "Assis Toi" where I proverbially sat down with various foodies, chefs and general food lovers and we talk about – what else- food. You can listen to the podcasts here.

I also write about food for a variety of publications, such as East Coast LivingHalifax Magazine,  as well as the alternative weekly, The Coast.

For a long time, I wrote for a food blog called Passable, discussing everything from farmers markets to how to make a better sorbet. In May of 2012, Passable was voted "Best Food Blog" by readers of Halifax's alt-weekly, The Coast.
